UNICEF programmes for water and hygiene
UNICEF is the leading aid organisation for water supply and sanitation during emergencies. For many years, the United Nations Children's Fund has worked worldwide to improve water, sanitation and basic hygiene practices - especially for disadvantaged families of the world’s poorest countries.
UNICEF, for example, ensures the water supply for village communities and equips schools with sanitary facilities. In special emergency cases or after natural disasters, UNICEF brings thousands of liters of water to refugee camps daily, supports hospitals and repairs water and sanitation installations.
